  • Stand on a soft 17 if the dealer shows a 5, 6, or 7

  • Always split Aces and 8s
    Aces give you a shot at two strong hands (starting with 11). And splitting 8s helps you escape a tough 16, one of the worst starting hands.

  • Never split 5s or 10s
    Two 5s is a strong 10—much better to double down. Two 10s (20) is already a winning hand—don’t break it up.

  • Double down on 11, unless the dealer shows an Ace
    You have a strong chance of making 21. But if the dealer has an Ace and might have blackjack, wait until they check.

  • Double down on 10, unless the dealer shows a 10-value card or Ace
    Against weaker dealer up-cards, this is a great opportunity to press your advantage.

  • Always hit on hard hands totaling 8 or less
    You can’t bust, so take the card.

  • Double down on a soft 18 (Ace + 7) when the dealer shows 3, 4, 5, or 6
    These dealer cards give you a strong edge. Press it with a double.

  • Stand on soft 18 when the dealer shows 2, 7, or 8
    Not ideal for doubling, but also too risky to hit.
